Actor Leslie Phillips a former Bee Gee Robin Gibb might seem an unlikely combination to discuss the price of fame and yet the pair strike a chord. On celebrity, Phillips explains how people still come up to him and say “ding dong”, which, he sees, in part, as punishment for having a catchphrase. Gibb adds that it can be irritating when fans approach him stabbing their finger in the air in the manner of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Poignantly, Phillips goes on to explain the downside of fame and why he couldn’t attend the funeral of his wife, while Gibb says touring was pertly responsible for the end of his first marriage. He also tells how on the night the Bee Gees’ Massachusetts hit No1, he was caught up in the Hither Green train crash.
